What do you love about CIVICUS? I love the welcoming community that is created the moment you walk through the doors of Somerset Hall. CIVICUS provides a community where you can learn how to be a more civically engaged member of society.
What has been your favorite CIVICUS experience so far? My favorite CIVICUS experience was the retreat prior to my first semester of school starting. We went up to a campsite and did many fun activities as a big group. I made my initial college friends at that college retreat. |

What do you love about CIVICUS? I love the fact that through CIVICUS I was able to experience things that I probably never would have tried. CIVICUS has opened so many doors for me and also brought me some of my closest friends.
What has been your favorite CIVICUS experience so far? My favorite CIVICUS experience was probably Zoom and socially distanced paint night! I loved getting to speak to the new CIVICUS freshman and catching up with the CIVICUS students in my year while painting, making jokes, laughing, and relieving stress. It made me realize that there can still be a sense of community even in these online times. Also, I got to see Korey's horrible painting skills, it was truly a great experience.

What do you love about CIVICUS? I love the whole concept of living and learning within CIVICUS. You have classes with many of the people you live with, and it creates bonds that can be useful in both settings, inside and out of the classroom. It also allows you to see how people from different areas are diverse, exposing you to their in-class points of view and also how they interact outside of class. Even with transitioning online, after living with each other and having classes together, it still feels like a close bond.
What has been your favorite CIVICUS experience so far? My favorite CIVICUS experience was the first service learning activity, the peanut butter and jelly service project. Although it seemed like a small thing, it was a team-bonding activity and fun.

What do you love about CIVICUS? I love the people! It is a great community and makes a big school like UMD feel a little smaller. It is also super cool to meet people from all types of cultures and backgrounds.
What has been your favorite CIVICUS experience so far? Although I started CIVICUS virtually, my favorite experience was Paint Night! It was held in-person AND over Zoom and we all painted terps.

What has been your favorite CIVICUS experience so far? Being paired with my sophomore buddy my freshmen year because we got closer than I ever imagined, and she is still one of my closest friends to this day!

What do you love about CIVICUS? CIVICUS challenges students to think outside of the box and tackle issues and problems they wouldn't have otherwise thought of. CIVICUS is unique in that students come from all walks of life. They have proximity to some of the country's most pressing issues and are always willing to share and educate each other on them.
What has been your favorite CIVICUS experience so far? Meeting my best friends through CIVICUS has been the best experience. We go into D.C. and do the paint nights. It's a lot of fun.

What do you love about CIVICUS? CIVICUS has been the main driving force in my involvement all across campus. What has been your favorite CIVICUS experience so far? My favorite CIVICUS experience so far has been my involvement with Good Neighbor Day. This experience introduced me to the community garden on UMD's campus, which I hope to be involved with in the future.
