The Frederick Douglass National Historic Site is celebrating its annual Community Day. It commemorates the life of Frederick Douglass with a day of family-friendly fun. Activities will include music, house tours, crafts for kids, storytelling, face painting and other living history demonstrations. This year’s celebration will be this Sunday October 14 from 12 noon – 4:00 pm.
5- 7 volunteers are needed to help with event set-up from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, and about 20 volunteers to help assist with visitor services, games and crafts from 11:00 am until 4:30 pm.
If interested, please reach out to Cameron Thurston (cthursto [at] umd.edu) and/or Delphine Gross (delphine_gross [at] nps.gov) for further details.
Since this is an outside-of-CIVICUS project, you should make arrangements with the organizers directly to volunteer. Because this event has occurs on Sunday, you do NOT need to submit a Project Proposal for Outside Service. You DO need to submit a follow-up Involvement Entry. Please reach out to Amy if you need help with transportation.
